Spring 2009 Has Sprung: Wrestlers Hit the Road

With the conclusion of the high school season, it's time to gear up once again for a busy off-season as wrestlers statewide look to gain that edge over the competition. Already come and gone is the increasingly popular Cyclops Tournament in Butte. Several hundred wrestlers converged on the Mining Town in what is fast becoming the state's premiere kick-off tournament.

In addition to the Cyclops, a multitude of events will be occurring throughout the state, the largest of which will likely be the Montana Open, scheduled for March 28-29 at the Billings Metra. The folkstyle event is expected to draw over a thousand competitors. Competitors will want to arrive on March 27th for this year's event for the purpose of registeration and weigh ins.

Other Spring Highlights:
  • State Folkstyle Tournament (AAU), Great Falls, March 14-15
  • McCarthy-Smith, Butte, April 11
  • State Freestyle and Greco, Butte (USAW), April 25-26
